And well, now that Christmas is over I've compiled the missing modules for the new set of pdaXrom E17 packages. Those are all modules found in CVS

From the 20th on I'll be in Spain again, thus I can't guarantee the frequency of updates until the 13th of January.

Meanwhile I'm trying to figure out how to get E17 running on Solaris Express. b48 through b52 produce binaries which segfault, apparently due to either broken linker or faulty module location detection. So I'm waiting for the release of b54. Maybe I'll try to compile with Sun

I'm planning to provide the powerpc arch for the E17 Debian repository - should be available by the end of next week. Time to make my RS/6000 do something productive.

After more than one month of problems with the cross compile environment I finally updated my pdaXrom E17 feed. Amongst the updated packages is the file manager entropy as well as entice and exhibit.

Eet is now fixed on ARM, thus E17 will show

pdaXrom packages won't be updated until all relevant modules and the shelf system itself work completely.

I've just added a binary only package containing modules from get-e.org called emodules-extra. It contains the following modules:

• calendar
• eloquence
• evolume
• moon
• mount
• slideshow

Evolume doesn't seem to work well on my machine. I hope I can fix it soon.

Another package just hit the repositories today: exhibit.

Exhibit is an image viewer based on Etk which looks similar to gqview and thus including a file browser. Very promising.

Furthermore I rectified some issues with the generation of the Release file and signing of packages. Please email me if you encounter any strange behaviour - I usually only check the packages itself and not the functionality of the repository.

Things are moving along and with it the repository. I added ETK, evfs and entropy. Entropy is a file manager based on the new widget library ETK.

I've been keeping the repository updated and added some new stuff:

• e17genmenu - creates menus from existing KDE/Gnome ones
• evolume - a module for managin mixer settings
• elitaire - a card game based on the EFL

E17 keybindings are back and alpha and i386 branches are updated accordingly in the repository. Also repositoy issues regarding MD5sum mismatches should be solved by now.

Since two days the file ending .eapp is replaced by .eap. Thus one needs to rename all the .eapp's and their names in each .order file. A quick solution is the following:

After buying an AS4100 and upgrading it with a second processor board, I can now build E17 for alpha and all its applications in notime.
Using distcc almost cuts compile time down to one third. Anyway, I can't upgrade the repository more than three times per week as my local upload ratio is limited to 2GB per month.

E17 keeps growing at a fast rate. After the mini-freeze a couple of new new features have been added. There're also some new projects on the way, such as eclair , an EFL music/video player. Eutils now contains Entangle, a tool for managing icons of the bar, the menus and the startup.

Since DR17 becomes more and more usable I started creating icon files (.eapp's) for use in the menus and the bar. Simply add them to the appropriate .order file in ~/.e/e/applications/. They also work for engage in which case the file is ~/.e/apps/engage/launcher/.order .

Added a couple of recompiled DR17 debs along with the evidence file-manager. Later one is as usable as e17 due to problems with the icon-mode.

A patch is available for debian/rules of libevas which replaces x86 specific flags by alpha(ev56) ones and therefore enables compilation.

I created a Debian Alpha repository containing DR17 CVS builds and some assorted packages such as mplayer. While DR17 packages are uploaded solely for testing purpose, all other packages are tested and therefore useable.

Meanwhile I succeeded in inserting the atyfb code of kernel 2.4.16 into 2.4.27 to assure that X/framebuffer works on the VAIO picturebook while providing all of new drivers and features of 2.4.27. The Debian package can be found here.

I decided to publish my results of an effort to create Debian install floppies which are designed to install woody on a Sony VAIO picturebook which - due to its size - has limited possibilities to boot from and contains some unusual hardware.
